About Me
Welcome! I’m Leah Birkenfeld—teacher, yogini, mother, musician, and singer.
From a young age, I’ve always been driven by curiosity and the desire for self-growth. I’ve spent much of my life seeking deeper understanding and new experiences. One question that has always fascinated me is:
How do the mind and body work together?
My journey into yoga began in 2012 in Barcelona. From the start, my practice was disciplined and profound, even though at times it was challenging to maintain in a fast-paced and demanding world. But the seed of yoga had been planted, and its roots began to grow deep within me, guiding me on a path of profound transformation. With time, patience, and introspection, the fruits of this practice began to emerge.
In 2014, I moved from Mexico to Berlin while pregnant with my first child. Practicing yoga during this time was essential for me—it helped me feel more connected to my body and emotions, balanced my hormones and stress levels, and prepared me physically and mentally for childbirth.
In 2015, I became a mother to a healthy, joyful child—who to this day is my little Guru.
Throughout my journey, I’ve attended workshops and studied with renowned yogis and yoginis, such as Usha Devi, Marla Apt, Parveen Nair, Gurmukh etc. My teaching journey has been shaped by years of personal practice, active teaching, and continued learning, attending workshops, kirtans, and women’s circles all around the world.
In 2017, I traveled to India for the first time to complete my Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at the Nada Yoga School. There, I immersed myself in traditional teachings passed down by great native teachers.
After returning to Berlin, I earned a certificate as a Khalsa Way Yoga pre- and postnatal teacher at Jivamukti Berlin with Sarah Kamrath and Gurmukh, co-founder of Golden Bridge Yoga in L.A. and a disciple of Yogi Bhajan.
Determined to continue my growth, I returned to India in 2020 for advanced 500-hour training at Rishikesh Yog Peeth Abharayanya, completing my studies in the serene Himalayas, disconnected from the distractions of the outside world.
Today, I teach workshops, private sessions, and group classes in the heart of Berlin.
Yoga, to me, is like coming home after a long journey. In our practice, we create space for stillness, self-acceptance, and inner peace. The physical and psychological benefits of our Sadhana (practice) keep us healthy, active, and balanced—helping us transcend the limitations of the mind.
I look forward to sharing this journey with you on the mat.
With love and gratitude,
Leah Birkenfeld
